STILL CRAZY Sailing

Life is Short but Wide...

DONNA LANGE's songs and sailing

If you are interested in finding some new songs flavored with the salty taste of Mother Ocean and emanating from a sweet authentic heart, you will like to take a listen to Donna Lange's CDs.  Donna is a talented song writer and singer and you can find her CDs available from her mother (info on her sailing adventures around the world site:  www.DonnaLange.com  for address,etc.).  While Donna is completing her circumnavigation, I am finding listening to her music very inspirational!

Sea Music

The Music from our lives and now our site.

11.22.06  A feast for ye'  ears:  The idea for the music on our site comes quite naturally.  First reason this comes so easily is because Captain D's musical background.  Prior to his captaining the crazy Ship, he was part of a band with his brothers.  As I may have mentioned elsewhere on this site, Dennis comes from a family of SEVEN brothers!  (They had saints for parents!)  Actually, the brothers are quite handsome, mannerly and are all very bright and amazing men.  I am proud to be their sister!  All of the “boys” are musical.  Can you imagine such collective talent in one family?  {Their Mom was musical}  And music is but one of the many talents springing from this incredible family.

So six of the brothers had a fantastic band together for many years, and they played lots of Van Morrison, Jimmy Buffett, Asleep At The Wheel, Eric Clampton, etc., etc., etc.  So when I met the Good Captain he was an awesome bass player for a terrific and funfilled band who hosted great yearly “Parties for No Apparent Reason”…  and had gigs all over the place.  The larger extended family (hundreds) have come to these rockin’ parties and the tiniest of the children learned to dance as soon as they could rock in their parents’ arms.  You have not smiled if you have not seen 15 to 20 young children joyfully dancing to their Uncles’ (or cousins’) band!!!

After Captain D and I met, we loved to join in the music scene as often as we could.  Either at a concert of one of our favorite artist's, or the giving a concert with the brothers’ band, we always were “doing” music (my part here is to dance to the brothers music -with all my sisters – all the wild women of these wickedly talented men!)

When D and I wed some 15 years ago, and our children (His=two girls, Mine=two boys) from our first marriages) now have children who have experienced the brother’s music…  But alas, Captain D and I moved out of travel range to have him still in the infamous brother’s band.  {{I do believe there is a little pirate in each of the brothers, but don’t tell them I said so!}}  Captain D and I now entertain ourselves and our grandchildren with Captain D on the guitar and me singing loudly (often off key:) at his side and the grandchildren on the drums, bells, chimes, shakers, and whistles and SINGING THEIR HEARTS OUT.  We make a bountiful noise!

We sing the familiar Jimmy Buffett songs and of course some songs from the ancient musical past with “interesting” reputations… such as “The Cat Came Back”…  the Grandkids LOVE IT!

So music is quite a part of our lives.  And of course, our Crazy Girl has a great sound system aboard for the days there is no wind and the BBQ is blazin.’   Naturally, we have selected some of the songs we enjoy - or have sweet history with - to offer as the “sound track” of our site --and our lives.  We hope you enjoy listening to Still Crazy’s music.
